NRA Range Safety Officer Course
NRA Range Safety Officer Course near develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers in Oregon to have the knowledge, skills, and attitude that is essential for an RSO to organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities and gun range operations. NRA Range Safety Officer Program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized Range Safety Officer Certification. To become an NRA RSO, you must take and pass this course.
This Oregon NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Course provided by Defensive Firearms Instruction takes place over two (2) days and is conducted in a traditional classroom setting.
Both days of the NRA range safety officer course are four (4) hours long and are held in a classroom.
Range Safety Officer candidates will learn the following during the Oregon NRA Range Safety Officer Course:
- Roles and Responsibilities of an RSO
- Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Range Inspection and Range Rules
- Range Briefings and Emergency Procedures
- How to Deal with Common Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions
Range Safety Officer candidates will receive the following during the Oregon NRA Range Safety Officer Course:
- RSO Student Study Guide
- Basic Firearm Training Program Brochure
- NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure
- Course Evaluation Form
Additionally, Range Safety Officer candidates who have successfully completed this prerequisite course will be qualified to go through the NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course. The Chief Range Safety Officer is someone essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
Question: Does this course cover information about NRA competitive shooting events?
Answer: This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competitive shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.
