ASP Expandable Baton Course
The ASP Expandable Baton course is a comprehensive 4-hour training program specifically designed for law enforcement, security officers, and industry professionals. The course focuses on teaching practical techniques that are applicable in real-life street encounters. The techniques are court defensible and supported by experienced use of force consultants. The course is meant to provide the student with an understanding of the conditions in which the baton may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions.
Course Topics Include
- Portation (Carrying) techniques
- Presentation (Drawing) techniques
- Striking techniques
- Mechanical function and maintenance
The training incorporates drills simulating the wide variety of street encounters which may require the use of an expandable baton. It provides efficient defensive impact weapon tactics that individuals can quickly learn, easily practice, and readily maintain. Students learn how to disengage or escalate as the situation may require. The techniques taught have a high success rate, working 90% of the time on 90% of subjects. Students should be in good physical condition and capable of performing rigorous exercises.
Upon successful completion of this course, students receive a lifetime ASP Baton certification card through the mail.
